Noi dell' Azzeriamo ci sentiamo un po' cosi', dei sognatori che non si vogliono mai arrendere... ecco perchè abbiamo accettato una sfida molto impegnativa... portare l'acqua al Villaggio Muthitwa!

E' una sfida difficile perchè servono circa 18000 € !!!                                           

Noi ci proviamo, con il solito entusiasmo e voglia di fare che ci contraddistingue, pur continuando a promuovere i progetti già esistenti. Di seguito troverete in dettaglio il "progetto".

REPORT ON PROPOSED WATER SUPPLY TO MUTHITWA

PRIMARY SCHOOL AND CHURCH

 

1. Introduction

 

 

 

 

Muthitwa Pry School is situated 45 km south – east of Meru Town, 15km from Mitunguu Trading

 

Centre and 7km off the main road to Tunyai. The area lies in Tharaka-Nithi County at a mean altitude

 

of 850m above sea level and can be considered semi-arid.

 

The project aims at providing water from the nearby Thingithu River that originates from the slopes

 

of Mt. Kenya and is perennial to Muthitwa Pry. School with a total student population of 460

 

(including ECD) and the surrounding community estimated at approx. 60 families. The School has

 

currently two (2) plastic tanks of 24,000 litres each and two of 10,000 litres each for the collection &

 

storage of rainwater from the roofs.

 

2. Technical data:

 

- Total distance from the river = 1,300 metres

 

- Total head = 60m

 

- Estimated number of beneficiaries = 1000

 

- Amount of water required = 30 cub.m per day

 

3. Detailed description of the proposal

 

3.1 Sinking of a 8-10metres deep well near the river bank (this is necessary because water

 

levels in the river rise by about 7metres during flooding)

 

3.2 Excavation of trench from the river to the well and laying of infiltration pipes

 

3.3 Construction of pump house in masonry and reinforced concrete on top of the well

 

3.4 Installation of submersible pump (this is necessary because the suction height

 

exceeds 6 metres)

 

3.5 Trenching/backfilling and laying of HDPE pipes of 1 inch dia. from the pump to the

 

the tank in the Church compound over a total length of 1,300 meters

 

3.6 Connection to the School tank(s)

 

3.7 Construction of one (1) masonry tank in the Church compound

 

3.8 Construction of a nearby water kiosk for fetching water by the community members
